Dear Chapter 38 Members,
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our long-time friend and colleague, Joel Nelson. Joel has been a valued member of our Beehive Chapter since February 2003, generously sharing his time and talents in many ways — including organizing our annual airport tours. His dedication, good humor, and kindness have touched so many of us, and he will be sorely missed.

Deepest Regards,
IRWA Chapter 38 Board
A brief message from our Secretary, Ben LeFevre:
It is with a sad heart that we inform you that our good friend Joel Nelson has passed
away. Joel passed away at the Huntsman Cancer Institute on Monday July 28th after a
short battle with late stage cancer, which had been diagnosed only a few weeks earlier.
This comes as quite a shock to many of us that were talking to him and working with
him just a few weeks ago. Joel was a proud member of our local IRWA chapter for over
20 years, and always brightened the room. I probably speak for all of you when I say
there are few IRWA meetings better than the ones where Joel would walk us around the
airport and point out the amazing stuff they do there.
There is a gathering of family, friends, & coworkers planned for this Friday evening
(August 15) and Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning August 16th . A link to Joel’s
obituary is below, as well as the attached PDF file, so please take a minute to read it and learn a few things about our friend.
All the best,
Ben LeFevre, Chapter Treasurer
